How To Dig Yourself Out Of Depression - Based On Your Reason
Overcoming your depression on your own is great but the real change happens if you can find the cause of your depression.
Otherwise you only gonna fix the symptoms but not the root cause and sooner or later you'll face your depression again.
That's why it's so important to figure out your why.
What's the reason you are depressed?
Get a child's mind, and ask yourself why-questions. Dig deeper with every single question until you've found the reason.
This way your recovery becomes easier.
Anyway, the following events are common causes of depression and what you can do to pull yourself out of that mental condition.
If you prefer video I made a YouTube video about the common causes of depression - see below.
Your job sucks
Let's face it.
If you hate your job or it's a pure agony your mind will shutdown in the long run.
Here's a great quote by Charles Bukowski which describes this cause very well in my opinion.
"How in the hell could a person enjoy being awakened at 6:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?"
However, finding a job, even a hobby, something you really love doing can help to dig yourself out of depression.
Use your knowledge only you have to teach others.
Help people solving their burning problems and they will happily pay you for it.

Let's jump to the next cause.
According to Psychology Today loneliness is a major precipitant of depression and alcoholism.
Meaning if you don't have any social skills loneliness gonna be your best friend.
In my experience the best thing you can do is to push yourself out of your comfort zone - even if it's just a tiny tiny bit.
I know that's such a boring cliché but life really changes if do something you are afraid of.
That's also a way to beat your depression.
I made a video about that on how to motivate yourself when depressed
You can also have depression when facing one of the following events..
Loss, Divorce, Broke, etc.
None of them is a joke, however it's a moment in your life you have to make a decision - sooner or later.
Life can be a bitch sometimes, but in the end you can solve every single problem.
You either accept or let go of something or you do something about it - on condition that there is something you can do.
This is quite tough but helps to dig yourself out of depression.
Let's move forward.
Buying stuff is fun, don't get me wrong, but if it becomes the only thing that makes you happy is a bad sign.
Because that's a warning sign of an addiction. Addiction only gets you a temporary high. It's happiness at the touch of a button.
But this only lasts a very short period of time until the dopamine level is down again.
The question is why do you want all that stuff?
If you want to buy something, take counsel with your pillow - if it's a small investment.
In case it's a bigger one, wait for 10 - 30 days and see if the urge to have that thing is still there.
Are you familiar with the next one?
You Think Life Is All About Climbing Up The Ladder
This could be another cause of your depression.
Getting the best employee in your company is quite ambitious.
However, if you solely focus on your career, ignoring everthing else around you, this will likely lead to a burn out.
Or do you think working 16 to 18 hours a day is something your body will be delighted of?
Your body will always fetch his condition he works the best.
And if you don't give him the time to relax your body will do this for you.
Being a workaholic is like running a car always in full speed - always in the red.
What do you think, will this engine last forever?
There's nothing wrong with working hard, but your life should consist of more than this goal.
Watch the following video by Dan Lok.
He's a Chinese-Canadian business magnate and talks about setting goals in your life.
It's quite remarkable so watch it now.
The next reason is also something that can kill you inside.
You Think Your Future Will Be Insecure
Thinking in what if terms can drive you nuts.
In the end you can't predict the future - it's impossible.
The following quote is on point:
“I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.”
-Charles R. Swindoll
That's so true.
Try to enjoy life to its fullest - not in the past nor the future - right now.
I can highly recommend the book "The Power of Now" by Eckart Tolle.
If you are still stuck with thoughts related to the future then think about the things you can really take control of and do something about it.
Otherwise accept that you can't take control of everything. It is what it is.
Traumas you suffered in the past can be brutal for the rest of your life.
This is something a tdoc or pdoc has to take care of in terms of psychotherapy, medication, etc.
My opinion is if you suffered a trauma in your childhood, it's not your fault. It will never be your fault.
However, a trauma cannot be undone, you can only try to make the "best" out of it, to work on yourself - as hard as it might sound.
A certain damage will remain.
If you are doing drugs you are doing this for a specific reason.
And the reason is you want to be happy. You want to escape. You want to escape from your naughty reality, because you can't stand it anymore.
But you cannot cheat Karma.
Suppressing your problems with drugs is like holding a ball beneath water.
You may can hold him for a long period of time.
But the time will come and you will be careless.
And then the ball will bounce back. Straight in your face.
Find the reason of your consumption.
What's missing in your life? What do you try to fill with drugs you don't get in "real" life?
If you've found your reason you can implement tiny steps to solve the problem on the root cause.
Treatments To Dig Yourself Out Of Depression
I'm not a strong believer of medication anymore.
At some point I was taking 10-12 pills a day. I was really thinking there's a magic pill.
So I was trying one after another.
Did they kill my depression? No.
If there were a pill that kills your depression, then why are so many people still depressed?
Don't get me wrong, pills can help to suffer less. But you still suffer.
The same with psychotherapy. It can help if you are willing to work on yourself.
If there is something that can help and support then I would suggest trying CBD oil. I reviewed Green Roads CBD Oil on this blog post here.
That's a better alternative than the chemical mace.
The list of causes of depression is not complete but these are the most common ones.
I also want to emphasize that to dig yourself out of depression is something you really want from within. It comes truly from yourself.
Typically it's a moment in your life you have made the decision to get rid of your depression, to fight your depression and to finally overcome it.
Then you no longer completely rely on external help, only looking for the outside.
Then it's anything but faltering.
I really hope you found this post useful.
